Higher Ground By
Huricane Relief Benefit Concert
(CD
Nonesuch)
In salute to
the town that was once and will again be New Orleans, Wynton Marsalis assembled
some of the finest musicians to share a presentation of Live music at Jazz at
the Lincoln Center nearly 3 weeks after Hurricane Katrina. This Hurricane Relief
Benefit Concert brought together Eric Reed, Terence Blanchard, Aaron & Art
Neville, Diana Krall, James Taylor, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Roberts, Norah Jones,
Buckwheat Zydeco, Bette Midler, Joe Lovano, and Cassandra Wilson. The joyful
and triumphant songs on Higher Ground express strength and soul - a spirit essential
for rebuilding the town Marsalis calls the “soul of America.” All
net profits from the sale of the CD and digital downloads will be donated to
the Higher Ground Relief Fund established by Jazz at the Lincoln Center to benefit
musicians and provide general relief to those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
This grouping of artists and songs not only steams the savory flavor of New
Orleans, but also will move you and cause you to take pause. Please support
the sound nurtured by New Orleans by adding this disc to your collection. Your
ears and your heart will be thankful for it.
