#2] Jars Of Clay By
Furthermore: From The Studio, From The Stage
While it is hard to
believe it has been eight years since Jars of Clay burst onto the scene with their
smash Christian/ mainstream hit, "Flood," the band has been busy. Their
fifth release, the two-disc Furthermore: From the Studio, From the Stage is not
so much a greatest hits as it is a snapshot of where the band is today. Disc One
contains acoustic interpretations of songs from their first four albums and three
new songs in the same acoustic style. This stripped-down, folksy sound lets the
songs speak for themselves, and the inventive arrangements give them energy enough
to stand up to the originals - "Love Song for a Savior" and "Redemption"
are highlights. Disc Two is culled from the band's recent 11 Live concert tour.
This set showcases the melodic alt-rock the Jars are known for. In contrast to
the first disc, many from this set rock harder than the originals. "Like
a Child" brims with energy and "Worlds Apart" closes the disc powerfully
- starting softly and building to a spiritual and emotional finish. A must for
fans, this set is a testament to their popularity in Christian music.
