Pacha Massive By
Mandana Beigi
All Good Things
(CD
Nacional Mnf Brasil)
After a serious of
here and there gigs and performances, this Bronx-based duo is here with a full-length
debut released on Nacional Records. From getting played on KCRW and NBC’s ‘Las
Vegas’, to sharing the stage with Ozomatli, Aterciopelados, Yerba Buena, and Sidestepper,
the band is ready to create a name of its own. Pacha Massive is the creative collaboration
between Dominican-born Nova (keys / guitar/ writer/ producer) and Colombian-born
Maya (writer/bass). Their style is a funky fusion of traditional Latin sounds
and electronica. Pacha Massive, is not the first band to try mixing genres (especially
within the Latin scene), but they are one of the very few who have learnt to do
it tastefully. Their high-energy debut album, All Good Things, is an audio collage
of cumbia, reggae, dub, and dancehall with heavy tempo bass and drums. For the
Latin alternative enthusiasts, this is going to be a good start for a year filled
with worthy releases!
