ONE WAY Recommends [Issue
Keller Williams By
spent some time with this record. Heard it in my car, my home system,
heard it at my computer (don't worry Keller, I did not burn a copy,
if I had you would have gotten my five bucks in the mail). A progressive
collision of genres from Jazz, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, Rock, to
Reggae, Latin, and Funk with exceptional guitar playing, innovative
production and arranging, and those catchy mouth-trumpet lines,
cool loops and mouth-drums, this album is an experience that has
to be enjoyed from beginning to end. Keller masterfully blends eccentric
lyrical and musical landscapes in songs about putting on weight,
dogs courting, and loving like a cannibal! "Love Handles"
with its amazing percussive guitar line is a definite favorite.
"Apparition"'s funky fluid groove will get you out of
your seat. "Dogs" brings Reggae into the picture, "Bitch
Monkey" is an exercise in Jungle-Jazz, and multi-layered polyrhythmic
"You Are What You Eat" will tickle your hunger in a peculiar
sort of way. Keller, as always, wrote and performed all the songs
on this album in a way only he can. This album is definitely high
in my consideration list for the top-10 albums of the year!
